MC1 260.

When installing this setup how do you establish the height of the stringers for the motor mounts?
Reading the installation manual does not really give this info.Installation manual.
Pages 13 & 24 refer to boat construction.

Thanks

Re: Mercruiser engine bed

Note keep engine supported at all times.

Set engine on rear mounts install bolts, washers and nuts.
Align engine with tool. leave tool in for further checking, check often
adjust front mounts to midrange, measure height and location
remove engine
build stringers
Tedious job, done it too myself once:redface:
:)

More then once here. It never gets better and sure makes me appreciate how simple a old Volvo is. Get the tabs on the bellhousing to the transom shield right and you are set. Just that simple.

Ayuh,.....

Pretty Easy when the motor is hung from a crane.......

Mock it Up,... Measure it,+ Fab up the mounts.....

Sometimes you just got to do things.:) There are engine bed drawings, but they show the distance from the engine mount to the stringer pad. Kind of tough to be analytical about two points in 3 dimensional space with no real starting point.:)

Ayuh,.....

I've got a few Installation Manuals,.... Complete with some Templates.....

But ya Still gotta Hang the motor off the Alignment Bar to see just Where things gotta Go.........

Doing those Triples last winter was a Blast,.... Especially with the driveshaft on the middle motor.....
