Looking at the mercruiser homepages I find that the old MAG 377 is quite similar to the new 6.2l 350 engines, apart from the 10kg and 30 hp difference. Is there anything else different between the two.

I have not found any credible tests of the new 6.2l 350 engines. They claim reduced noise and better fuel efficiency - has anyone accumulated any experience with these new engines yet?

A 6.2l is a 377ci engine. Most likely it is just more modern electronic ignition and maybe a few other small changes but they are but the same size engine ci wise.

New motor could be a LS variant (gen 3 motor) the old Mag377 is a strokes Gen 1 motor. Displacement is the same

The new 6.2 has no GM affiliation. The old 6.2 was a reworked 5.7l GM engine. The GM 350/ 5.7l is no longer available from either mercruiser or Volvo penta. Merc has ended their relationship with GM while Volvo is now using Gen V GM engines.
