I have a 1985 Mercruiser 305 5.0L V-8 engine I am swapping out of my boat (putting a complete 5.7L in mine). So I'm looking for a buyer for the entire 5.0L engine. I have asked around here enough to kind of understand that my engine would fit fairly easily any other similar time period Mercruiser w/ same Alpha One drive.
I just had an interested buyer ask if it would work as an engine replacement for his 1989 OMC 5.7L engine (which is blown)? So I'm wondering about that. I think I've read that OMC also used the Chevy small block engine, but I don't know if my Merc version would "plug and play" properly with the OMC drive, controis, etc. Anyone have experience with this?
