Ok after buying a 1992 bayliner 4.3 Capri with a year old motor and ONLY getting it in the water TWICE before realizing it needed a new transom!!! I have found the reason it had motor problems in the past was do to failing manifolds. Transom has been replaced now on to the manifolds. Looking on my own and the local marine shop I have found a price of $800 - $1000. I am willing to pay that but want to be sure that is the best price and choice.

Question, what would you use as a replacements exhaust? Is there a less expensive option but with high quality available? I plan on keeping the boat atleast another season and want NO issues, if possible.

Let me know and always thanks for the info!!!

IMHO, if you're only going to keep the boat for a season you'd be nuts to put OEM manifolds on there; they cost 2X the price of 3rd party, and you'll never recoup that cost when you go to sell the boat.

Here's a good thread with others recommending a few 3rd parties they've had good luck with. I'd absolutely save the cash and go 3rd party in your situation. Everyone seems to agree that no matter the manifold, always get OEM gaskets.

Not too bad of a time yet.....Not rich but sold another toy at a great profit to get into this boat. I definately expected some expense just don't want to spend crazy money.....but dependability is a must!

Try www.ebasicpower.com I just bought a full set of Barr manifolds for my 7.4L . . . $659 + $25 shipping (shipping weight is over 100 lbs !!!) Watch the shipping costs on anything you purchase online. Looks like they have Osco brand for the 4.3 engines. Both brands are good

You can also price then out on this site (iBoats.com)
