Mercruiser exhaust Y pipe leak... or bellows needing replacement?

With all the grit and sand you found I'm figuring your going to need a new bushing, and probably a new or rebuilt pin and gimbal ring, and since you have to take the pin out anyway to replace the seal, you can drill the hole before installing the pin

Thanks alot BT, I haven't watched the video yet I'm on mobile data at work but I'll watch it later. Great explanation and pictures, I never knew they used to come like that my 99 bravo 3 only has the one zirc for the gimbal bearing.

Company`s saving $.03 cents so you have to replace more parts. The older drives had fittings for:
hinge pins, upper and lower steering yoke and gimbal bearing

Quick question: The mechanic working on replacing the swivel shaft (the Pin) put the pin seal with the ring (or the opening) facing down. I noticed in the instructions from JR marine that the ring is supposed to be facing up. The mechanic already put everything back together. I just wanted to know is this is a big deal or not.

The seal should be a lip type seal and the lip should face down
