Mercruiser Feels Down on Power

Hi there!!

Would a dirty air filter/spark arestor and corroded distributer contacts cause my engine to feel slightly down on power??

Its a mercruiser 4.3 carbed version.

Ayuh,... Anything is Possible...
Do a Full,+ Complete Tune Up,+ Service... You'll probably find More problems...

When you say complete tune up what would this consist of???

Change cap,rotor,wires,sparkplugs and fuel filter. Clean air filter check timing

Iv changed the plugs and cleaned the air filter the previouds owner asured me it had new distrubuter cap and leads aprox 40hrs usage ago but took distributer cap off today and contacts were well coroded. so not sure he was saying the truth.

I put new plugs in about 10hrs useage ago but checked them today and the porcalain was a rustyish brown couler.Is this normal????

As for timing can you tell me whare i can obtain step by step instructions on the precidure.

There dosnt seem to be a misfire just seems to lack a bit of power.
