I have a 1989-90 5.0 mercruiser alpha engine that I want to convert to a straight inboard . I blew my LH engine and a friend of mine gave me this running take out. Outside of the bell housing and removing the power steering pump, is this possible? the only thing i've seen different besides that is that there is only an oil filter screwed on to the bottom of the oil pump area. my motor has a remote oil filter. can i just unscrew his filter and screw on the piece that mine has that the hoses attatch to?
