This motor appears to be a 1990 3.0 (181 140HP) after much searching online and referring to Mercs bulliten (http://www(dot)boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/97/97_06.pdf) on engine identification, I cannot for the life of me figure out the proper serial of this engine. You can see pictured the casting marks which read: 14096613 72/90 and of course it was cast in Mexico where Cervesa is plenty and Tequellia is cheap.

According to the Engine code:M03210H0 which has a zero as the 6th digit signifies either a 70,80,90,00 as this has a 1 piece rear main seal it is obviously newer than a 70/80 and where it takes a 12 3/4" FW it is older than a 2000. So, I know it is a 1990 which leads me to my final question:

What is my proper serial number so I can figure out what flywheel will work with this engine?

I have this same engine on my Regal 170. I am trying to find the side cover which covers the push rods. My cover has rusted and is leaking. Any suggestions?

yes, start your own thread regarding the problem you have, include engine make/model and serial number
