I have a 1995 4.3L Mercruiser. Loses power after engine warms up. Found voltage at the positive side of the ignition coil (purple wire) was only 11.2 with engine running. Voltage at battery is 14.3 with engine running. If I jump a wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the ignition coil the engine runs great.
What should the voltage be at the ignition coil?

Disconnect the electric choke and see if the voltage comes up to.

Re: Mercruiser Ignition coil primary voltage

I'm having the same issue! Engine running I only show 10ish volts to positive side of coil. But, unplug the choke and it jumps to 12-13v. But even at that, if I use anything electric(trim, tabs, blower etc) it still drops to the 10 range. Any ideas?
