I have not bought the impeller yet because I am not sure which one I need. However I want to change it as a precautionay. I have a 2008 Mercruiser Horizion 5.7 Serial number 1A09139. Can anyone tell me what impeller is needed. This is a inboard engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Mercruiser Impeller

Go here to the top of this section where DonS put all kinds of info to which how to identify what drive you have. Is this a vee drive or an outdrive model Horizon? Have a look through the Merc section and see if it answers your questions, if you have others come on back and let us know.

Note: We would also need an outdrive serial number or type to answer the question

serial number not found. Horizon sometimes means inboard not a I/O. All depends on the type of raw water pump that is on the engine.

Re: Mercruiser Impeller

This is a V-Drive Model.

I thought that was the case but wanted to check before I responded. The below link is for the entire kit if you have the original brass water pump housing. If you have the plastic housing you would need only the impeller. Only other item which is not usually replaced all the time is the quad ring. All the related Merc and Sierra part numbers are listed.

I have the single piece plastic one on my boat now. It works fine but I have read the horror stories about cracked housings.

It can and does happen, but most all cases it is usually from over torqueing the bolts. I have the plastic on both mine but if ever one needs replacing I'll look real close at the stainless.

Hi there, You may want to double check your engine serial number as 1A09139 is not showing up. You may just have a number out of place somewhere. :noidea:

With the info provided, I was able to track down you engine parts catalog for you.

Here is the parts for your sea water pump impeller, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...=13885&bnbr=210&bdesc=Sea+Water+Pump+Assembly
