mercruiser manifold installation question

I am putting new manifolds and risers on my 1988 230 mercr.i/o Should I use permatex hi tack on any of the gaskets.I have used it before on a head gasket. CC

I like using those heavy duty full lenth drop in hot rod header gaskets at the heads. Sometimes I have to notch out the hole so they are drop in. That allows me to get all the bolts started, then pull the manifold slightly away from the head and drop in the gasket. Sure beats picking those little sections out of the blige to "try again" Dry is ok.<br /><br />Then I like using neversieze on the riser sections.

my latest project boat i got real cheap Because the last owner had used permatex to seal to manifolds he could not figure out why it keep running hot!!!!!!!! guess what? all it was he use a little to much, stopped up the water ports If you use it, no more than a skim coat!

Wow,that knucklehead must have globbed it on out of a tube .His mistake was your gain.Hi tack sprays on so thats all you can put on is a thin film.
