I've got a 1986 Seville (by Sea Ray). It's got a 4 cyl 140 MerCruiser Alpha in it. I've got a friend with a crashed 2003 Bayliner that has a 6 cyl MerCruiser in it.

Does anyone know off hand if I could have his engine installed in my boat? Will it fit?

It Will Fit,........But Not Cheaply, or Easily.........

You'll need More than Just the Motor to do the Swap.......

Re: MerCruiser Motor Replacement

You need everything from the V6. Drive is different gear ratio, so you need it. You need the transom shield because the drive is a Gen II drive and the transom shield and everything else is different.
The cutout in the transom is the same, so that isn't a problem, but the V6 has side engine mounts, the 140 had a front mount. You're going to need motor mount pads and stingers if there aren't any.
If you plan on buying the complete boat, it's going to take some work, but it's do-able if you are a mechanic.

I'm no mechanic. I would pay to have it done. Any guesses as to how much it might run?

Also, any input on a suitable starting offer on my buddy's engine, plus everything else that you say I'd need above?

I would Guess that you'd be looking at 20 to 40 Billable Hours for the Swap,....................

If your Bud's Driveline,.... All of it,... Everything that says Mercruiser on it,....
Would/ Should be worth from $3000.00 on Up.......

Was there Any damage to the Driveline in the Crash,...... That'll drive the Price of the Swap Way Up........
New replacement parts will be needed.....
