I have a 1975-76 Searay SRV 240 with a small block chevy which is seized. It is attached to the Merctrans ll with what I believe is a TR outdrive. My question is, when I pull the motor should I detach the trans and leave it in the boat. or pull motor and trans as one unit. I'd like to make alignment easier and uneventful. By the way I used to log on as Captnreinell but I was having password problems so I created a new account.

It's easier to pull it as a unit

Before you get too involved in swaping engines make sure the transmission is ok. I dont think you will be able to find any parts for the infamous merctrans2.
Good luck, Bill
