mercruiser mpi fuel problem

i have a 383 mercruiser, MPI smartcraft motor, I/O with about 200 hours on it. A week or so ago, it quit, would turn over but not start. I determined that It was not getting fuel. After turning the battery switch off, to the motor, it seemed to "reset" itself, i could hear the fuel pump silenoid when the switch was turned on, and it ran fine Well, now it has done it again and will not reset. is the a bad solenoid? my local mechanic says its a case of either they work or they dont, and there is no way of predicting cause of failure. any advice would be appreciated.boat is almost too large to trailer to dealer, and they dont make dock calls here.

rc92500305 this is the number on the invoice for the motor, in the description, hope it is what you need. its a 2006 motor purchased on 3/21/2006

Dealer calls the silenoid a fuel pump relay, $22.58, and will be here friday.
Hope this fixes it.
