Hi guys, I've got a 1976 Searay SRV 180. I don't have the engine serial, and not 100%, but I think the outdrive is an Alpha Drive. My issue, the steering horn seems to keep coming loose, and I want to replace the bolt and nut, but wanted to know if this is a part number I should look up, or if there is any info someone might have to offer. I'd like to fix this once and for all. I got about 2 rides out of the last tightening. Attached are some photos I took of the nut and bolt...

Many thanks!

Not an Alpha One, an MC-1...

The slop you're feeling is wear in the splines of the steering arm and the swivel shaft... On that model the upper swivel shaft is 'spline-spline', and no longer available... The replacement is an upgrade of the swivel shaft AND the gimbal ring to 'square-square'... and not cheap...

Where can I find that upgrade? Also where could I find other parts for my setup?

Part number for the gimbal ring kit is -88302A1. I use www.mercruiserparts.com for my lookups.... You can also buy from there...
