NEED HELP! I have been working on this Houseboat. I did ask a few questions in the past and now have the transom assy off. The engine is a 110 Mercruiser GM 1966. Outdrive I think is older? Cant see the serial #s. Please look at photos to see what my problem is. This older unit i guess used a rubber elbow mounted to transom for exaust. I thought after pulling engine and transom it would show a rig job someone performed to put a rubber tub on to replace a worn rotted metal one. I confirmed this today with a local mercruiser tech around the corner from me. He said the older ones like this used a rubber on but doesnt know where to get one. PLEASE HELP!! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET BOOTS/tubes LIKE THIS MADE? Maybe locate one thats used but in good condition. Im scared to replace with a used one and overheat and have to pull engine and transom again to replace. THIS sounds crazzy but just pulling the engine did not let me get to the two clamps on transom to remove boot/tube so I pulled both engine and transom. Would installing a newer lower transom and outdrive be better? Would newer units hook up to this engine where its mounted? I hate to invest sooo much more money!! Im about to cut hole and run exaust through transom but everyone says not to for the noise! Local Merc tech said dont do this also! Summer is going by and I want to see the water PLEASE HELP.
