Mercruiser Outdrives not coming down

I have dual Mercruiser outdrives and I can't get either one to come down. They were working fine when I winterized the boat last winter, but as of this spring both are stuck in the up position. I do not believe it is an electrical problem because when I hit the buttons, I do get the whirring sound on each outdrive but neither moves. Does anyone know if there is something in common between the 2 outdrives, because I find it hard to believe that 2 separate parts would go bad at the same time to affect each drive. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated. I already checked the fluid level on each and it is fine. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Mercruiser Outdrives not coming down

Welcome to iboats.....:)
I was wondering when I would see someone post from T.R. which is where I hail from........;):)
Your trim rams are stuck from corrosion......
The salt water from Barnegat Bay & the brackish water orf the TR wreak havoc.......
What you need to do is get your MIL to stand on them one at a time while you operate the down button.......
They will come free.....
There is much more force exerted in the rams going 'up' than 'down'.....
They just need some coaxin'....
Spray the ends with Kroil or PB Blaster prior to this......;):)
