Mercruiser part numbers

Does anyone know what the difference may be between two parts that are the same number except one will have a "Q" the other will have a "T" as the second to last digit? Example was a cap and rotor kit and for a 2000, 4.3L in an online quicksilver cat. Supposedly they will both fit but what's the diff if anything? Also noticed it with a thermostat kit too I think.

Depending on what the part is, it means that either it is sold at a dealer only vs a reseller, like west marine or walmart

Or

It means it's a retail blister package that sits on a pegboard that a customer can grab himself vs something that comes in a white box.

Many a time a 'Q' at the end is the Quicksilver product line as opposed to the "Mercury" colors.....same thing. Here's an example:
