Does anyone have any experience, knowledge or feedback about the durability and/or any problems that exist in the 350 Plus Series fuel injected Mercruiser sterndrive vs. that of a brand Mercruiser new engine?

That just looks like a name change for a Remanufactured Mercruiser engine. My father installed a 383MAG MPI in my sister's boat (in place of a 454) about 6? years ago. It does a fine job and has been ZERO trouble. For the prices that they charge for them, they better be practically as good as new engines!

All the accessories on the long block, such as the starter, alternator, wiring harness, EFI system (including ECM) are new, not rebuilt.

I just installed the 4.3L Alpha 4V which is a Plus Serier Engine. I have only had it out once before putting it away for the winter, but I was very happy with what I saw. There are some pictures that I have posted in another thread.

You are correct. The new name for the remanned engines from Mercruiser is now "Plus-Series". Glad to hear your sister's remanned engine has been trouble free. That's exactly what I wanted to hear! I'm going to be putting in 2 300hp engines plus new transom assemblies and alpha drives in a fully restored 1976 23' Formula so I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the info!

Don, Thanks for the video It helped put my mind at ease! I'm replacing two 22 year old Mercruiser 260hp engines, transom assmblies and alpha drives (they served me well but it was time)

Thanks for the info. The pics helped too. It looks like a brand new engine. I hope mine are as nice.

Wow, their remanufacturing process is amazing. Where can you go directly to see prices for these remanufactured motors? Ive done some searching with little success.

Just google "mercrusier plus-series pricing" or check ebay. They're all over the web. For just my 300hp MPI engines they are going to be approx. $8870 each. They're not cheap but you don't have to put up with catalytic converters like on the "brand new" ones.

Here's one way but there's probably others.
Go to this link on Mercury's site for the plus-series motors.
Plus Series Engines | Mercury Marine

Then select one of the motors listed and scroll down a little bit and you'll see a part number.
Plug that part number into google or where you might buy Mercury parts from and see what their site shows.

I just picked the 383, 350hp mpi which has a part number of 865108R80 and found some sites where this engine is going for around $8,500 but you can see that some can be higher than that.
These are just examples that showed up with what returned for me and not my trying to find an absolute lowest price. Put that same part number in a search box here on IBOATS but appears that can not be obtained here.

You might try contacting Mercruiser Remanufacturing directly at (920) 924-1853. They have recently invested HUGE money into this whole new remanufacturing facility in Michigan. The may be willing to sell you just a long block or if not I'm sure they know who the good guys are out there are from which to buy them. Maybe a good place to start anyway. Good luck.
