Mercruiser Problem

I have a 2007 Glastron GT205 with a standard 4 Cyl Mercruiser package.
This is the third season for the boat. Recently, the Drive Belt for the Generator shredded and it was replaced along with the Power Steering belt. I also put in new spark plugs. After that, WOT was lower at 3,000 rpm. It starts, runs good until you try for top range. Engine has about 35 hours on it and the Carb looks clean. Do you think it could be the plugs...yes, they are the right ones. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

If this happened immediately after you replaced the plugs then I would suspect the wires. Perhaps you did not completely snap one back in place. That's an easy thing to miss.

You also mention you put the right ones on. What brand did you use? I personally have had issues with Autolite plugs being bad after very short use. (I know others, like Don S have had similar issues with Champion). I know everyone has their preference, but I have found the AC/Delco plugs to be the most dependable.

Re: Mercruiser Problem

I used Delco #8 which is the new cross reference. I think I will put the old ones back in and see what happens. I will check the wires too. Although if it only affects going above 3,000 rpm it might be something else. All suggestions appreciated.
