i i just recently bought 1967 star craft i have had trouble with if shifting in and out of rev, by the way the boat has set out side uncoverd for a couple of years while i was trying to shift the controler back and forth i damaged the lower shift cable and riped a hole in the cable belows. the cable was not completly broke because it started shifting after that'so i was taking on warer through the shift cable belows. so i tepararaly used silicone and wire ties in the belows that soped my water prob.tempararly.so i done som e reseach and found someone had disabled shift interrupter so anyway inot sure what i was thinking but i tryed to adjust the shift cable. that was a mistake i over tighted it and broke the lower cable.so this is wear im at with this.so i pulled the out drv and found wateer in my ujoint belows not good so now im in the process of changing gimble bearing /ujoints shift cable all bellows water tube and seal kit. and check and rewire shifrt interrupter i have lot of years mech. exp. but never been into one of these out drv;s +
