MerCruiser Recall

Just got this in the mail today,Mercury/Merc recall, they need to "replace the core wire of the intermediate shift cable". Apparently I can lose the ability to shift at any time. Anybody else get this?? Just great!! Going on vacation with boat in 5 days.....

I haven't yet....Mine is an 2008 350 mag mpi what's yours?

Have a 2010 3.0L Alpha. Don't think you're affected unless you've replaced that cable. I have a partial copy of the bulletin. Affected are replacement cables with certain date codes stamped on them, Feb thru June 2010: Alpha and Bravo drives with certain serial #'s aound same dates. Some were corrected upon assembly or dealers and marked as such. New cables on order, dealer said not to worry about breakdown. Bringing extra paddle...

I just got the same letter for my 2010 4.3L V6.

The letter makes it sound like the sky is falling.

Talked to dealer, said that the percentage of my cable breaking is low and finish out the season then get it done.
