All,
I'm currently experiencing a whining noise (best description I have) from the power trim/tilt when I get up to speed. If the engine is all the way down, it's not a problem but tilt up just a little and it's start to whine. I've checked the fluid level and all appears good. This would imply something with the motor but that doesn't make complete sense to me probably because I don't fully understand how the hydrolic system works.
I'm assuming the problem is associated with the engine being slightly tilted the force of the engine against the boat is absorbed by the trim/tilt system(i.e. increased stress on the system) While it's down, the load is transfered more through the physical trim stops. As I understand it, the motor is not active in anyway accept when I press a button to go up or down. The engine stays in the right position (i.e. it's not like it drops under the pressure). So what's causing the noise?
Any thoughts are definately appreciated?
