I have a 1987 Mercruiser Alpha one drive with a 3.0L 130hp engine. The Outdrive has a 1.98 Ratio. The boat is a Rinker V180. The top gears on the outdrive( Both Drive and Driven) are half striped. The lower seems to be fine it still shifts into foward and reverse and grabs the gears. My questions are:
#1) Would it be best to stick to the 1.98 ratio, or would there be a better ratio to go to.
#2) There are metal shavings in the upper, is there a good way to flush out the whole drive with out taking all of the lower gears out to make sure all the metal shavings are out, if so what and how should I flush it with.
Thank You
