mercruiser wiring harness starting diagram?

I am looking for a diagram which shows how/what I need to short to start the motor outside of the boat, connecting to the wiring harness.

I must apologize, as I know I have seen the diagram, but I cannot find it. Thanks.

(mercruiser 7.4 89, if that is relevant to the diagrams)

you have to jump the big power wire (red) to the purple wire. That wil give you ignition. Then TOUCH the big power wire (using anothe jumper wire) to the yellow/red striped to engage the starter. To kill the engine, disconnect the Red to purple jumper

I am new to the forum, and I saw your thread on wiring. I have a 351 winsor, that I have just rebuilt, it is sitting on a engine stand, and I am ready for my first start up. My question is, how do you wire a push button switch to the harness to start the engine. Is it 5,6 together and 7 to the switch, I read this on another page, but his engine was a 350 chevy. I not sure if the wiring is the same. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
