Good news they've got the motor to turn over, w/out burning out anymore wires. They separated the wires and fixed the ones that were bad. Some of them were cracked and exposed. Now they are gonna siphon the old gas out and hook up a new gas line. Any advise?

If your finding dried and crack wires, take the advice of many earlier in this thread. Don't just go for random replacement. Find a good condition used replacement wiring harness.

It's ok to tinker at the dock and get it to start, but operating with bad wiring will continue to haunt you. In the future dampness and arcing will either leave you floating (been there) or worse.​

YEP.

If you have bad - cracked - burnt wires then you really do need to replace them all. I don't know if you boat in fresh or salt water, but the corrosion inherent in a boat will continue to cause problems for you down the road unless your wiring is in tip top condition.
