I'm looking at getting a 2006 bayliner with a 3.0L 135 hp engine
Does anybody know of any type of problems with the motors in the bayliner
or even problems with the boat?

Bayliner is on the bottom end of the quality scale, but the engine is used in tons of boats and is a good basic engine.

I had one of the worst bayliners, from what everyone said, but I had it for 11 years without any problems, other than some minor Carb stuff which you will have with any boat. I had the old Force engine on mine, and it worked fine for a long time. I just decided to sell it and get a newer boat, which I now got a 94 Crownline 196BR with an Alpah 1 drive and Mercruiser 5.0.

You should be good to go with that boat, as I think their new ones have little wood in them, so you shouldn't have to worry about the rot and all that.

They are a cheaper boat, but if you take care it, it will last you for a long long time. Thats with any boat though.

One of the regular posters on these boards is a guy who goes by the tag of 'Bond-o'. He has much to say about Bilgeliners (sorry, Bayliners). To quote him "They are built of the least amount of inferior material required to give the appearance of a quality boat". I won't say any more on that. The 3.0l Mercruiser is a reliably, proven engine with a very long track record. Parts are plentiful and they are easy to work on. It has electonic ignition so there are no points to worry about and the Gen II legs are very solid. They are good for about 300hp, so there's not a lot you can do with a 135 that would kill it. The only recommendation I would make is IF you buy it, take out the 4 nuts and bolts holding the upper and lower leg housings together (one at a time) and put a bag of grease on them. They have a habit of getting salt water in the cavity and salt builds up to the point where it splits the nut. Had it happen on a lot of Gen IIs.
