Mercruser 6 cyl. inline what sparkplugs and fuel?

I just bought an older boat with a mercruiser 6 cyl. inline 165 hp.

A few questions:

Which sparkplug and wires, cap and rotor
What kind of oil

and most important? A sticker on the motor says leaded fuel only. What do I use? Av gas?????

a year would be good info for us to have.......

spark plugs- probably up to 74 AC R-43T or 75-78 AC CR-44N.......there are notes in the service manuals reguarding which plugs. a year and serial # might be usefull to help narrow it down....i'm usein ngk- BR6FS. i must say, ya've opened my eyes on plugs. i think the br6fs is a sub for the r-43T. i have been usein this plug in both my 72 and 75 L6. thuogh i think i'll do a bit more research and see what crosses to a CR-44N. i never even checked my service manual regurading plugs. i just fig. a L6 was an L6. maybe i'm not hip, but i will be...... i personally like ngk plugs and the br6fs has worked well in both engines....
wires- any good set of wires would be ok
cap and rotor- don't know what number. but just go to yer merc. dealer and get some mercruiser parts......
oil- of corse everyone has "ther're" brand thats the best. personally i use merc. 25W-40

when i replace those parts, i go to an auto parts store and tell them what it's for and then have them look up a 70-72 chevy truck motor. i take the old parts with me to be sure they fit. so far the only problem has been with the rotor not fitting, but they can usually find one that does. as far as gas, i have run lead substitute but it is getting hard to find. i run the mid grade also. the motor seems to like it better.

those would not be the same parts as marine parts. auto parts don't belong on boats. if ya wanna use the autoparts store. check out napa. tell em ya want marine parts. hoot, have ya checked out that link to the lead additive thread.....it a pretty good read......
