I have just bought a boat with a Merc 110 engine and have a few questions. As a newbie to boats and outboards hopefully someone here can help me out. I know the engine is water cooled and there is a constant jet of water exhausting from the side of the engine when running. There also appears to be a spray of water coming from the casing just above the water line. This I assume is not notmal ? any ideas as to problem and solution. Also the engine can be trimmed electronically and there is a dial on the dash for the trim but does not appear to be connected is this a major job or can anyone explain how I could tackle it myself. The same applies for engine temp ie: dial but not connected.

Many thanks for any help.

John.

Re: Mercury 110 outboard

Mine has 2 rectangle shape holes and that may be exhaust and it is ok for water to spray out. Have someone drive the boat and reach back there with your hand.

Re: Mercury 110 outboard

Thanks for the reassurance re the water spray. The trim for the engine is just the usual up down on the throttle which is fully working. The dial in the dashboard has no connections to it.
