Hi All,

My Merc 110 Thunderbolt 1971 engine, serial number 300 4088 has no spark on both cylinders.

Is there anybody out there who can tell me how to do a Stator test.

Also read in one of the post's you can still buy the 2 white insulating blocks for the points, anybody know where?

Many Thanks

Re: Mercury 110 Stator test

Disregard the years listed on the top of this test as it's incorrect and remember the largest problem with this system is the insulator blocks on the point studs crack so if eveything else tests good change the blocks also whenever you change points they must be changed.

Re: Mercury 110 Stator test

Thanks for your reply, tried testing both cylinders as shown on your reply, still nothing.

Looks to me the fault is further back in the stator or points area, how would I test the stator itself,

Many Thanks again,

Re: Mercury 110 Stator test

The first part of this test (no spark on any cyl ) does test the stator. The stator furnishes to coils power continually and the points only ground the other end (coil) to fire the system so if it passes that section the trouble is in the point section and if it fails then the stator is bad.
