Mercury 15 4 stroke runs only high rpm

I got this Mercury 15 4 stroke, 2003 on a trade with the person telling me that it did not run right. It starts easy but will die when you don't hold it on fast throttle. Plugs, spark, etc. all seem ok, almost sure it is the carb. Clean it? What say you?

Ayuh,..... Rebuild it,.... Sounds like the idle circuit is plugged,....

I cleaned it today and it has the exact same problem. Hard to start unless started at high throttle and dies if below probably 1500-2000 rpm. Carb seemed real clean? Does anyone know what jet or section of the carb is the idle circuit?

A lot of Mercs have high and low speed stator windings. If the low speed winding is open or bad, she won't run slow. Yoyu might check the stator test procedure for your motor.
