mercury 1981 v6 carb

i have a carb on my merc v6 150 middle carb pours out gas motor runs terrible. i took carb out turned it upside down and blew air with my mouth to see if floats would shut off and i can still blow air througjh gas inlet on carb. took carb bottom off then turned float bowl upside down again, this time i could not blow air through gas inlet on carb. do i need to adjust my floats. ?

It is either a float adjustment or a stuck needle seat or both. The needle is staying open and allowing air/gas to continue to flow.

The little gasket in the middle is critical. If you forget it, or re-use the old one, the carb can flood in that way.

Check your manual for correct adjustment,then eliminate other causes from there.I've got
88 V6 and when upside down should hang 1.6mm.
