Greetings all from 'Blighty' (Great Britain) from a brand new user. Allow me to introduce myself to one and all, Djcharly'c'. (It goes way back to when I was a nightclub owner/Disc Jockey!), but I still use the name for the web.
Anyway, down to business, I own a 1991 Mercury outboard, 60hp, model number MER1060412JB. Bought it last year, and had a good season running about in the tiny boat it shoves along!
Thought I'd give the engine a pre-season checkup, and I find the impeller a bit hit and miss, so I'm looking to replace it. Cannot obtain a manual for all my attempts, and don't have a clue where the impeller is located on the engine, thought maybe in the leg? Anyway, pictures, instructions, websites, ANYTHING to help would really be appreciated!:D

Greetings DJ - I've looked around on lots of sites and found no info on that number. (MER1060412JB) Hopefully others on this forum will have something soon. Just curious, how many cylinders?
Cheers,Dave

Welcome aboard. Until such time as you obtain a service manual for your engine, visit the Mercury Marine web site. Click on Parts Express, enter your engine serial number and you can veiw the parts listings. You are correct -- the impeller is located in the lower unit. Actually, its at the top of the lower unit after it has been pulled off the engine. When ordering parts, I would suggest you replace the thermostat as well.

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply, three cylinders, made in Belgium I believe. Yes, very little info around relating to my Mecury, I guess I'll have to wait and see...

Copy and paste into your browser line.
Take a look at this link, lots of pictures. It show a larger Merc engine but the basics are the same and will give you some instructions for the project. Sounds like your 1st project will be locating the parts. Maybe replace the enitre pump.
