Hi there can someone advise.
I used my Mercury 20hp for the first time at the weekend, it ran fine all day.
At the end of the day I found that a plastic plug was missing from the top of what I believe is the drive shaft housing. Dont know when it went but if it went during sea running am I likely to have a problem?

Sorry to ask but I am new to this

I have an old merc 200 20 hp and have plastic plug just above the prop on the rear of the housing. You have to take that plug out to get to the bolt that holds the anode plate on. On mine it really does not seal anything as its just a plastic plug. You should be able to find something similar. Not 100 % sure this is the same plug that your missing. You should be ok.

Agree and hurts nothing to run without this plastic plug that seals access hole to anode plate. You can get a plastic plug at Lowes or Home Depot that is black and will work fine. I usually RTV seal them in. Just keeps exhaust from bubbling out.
