Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a 14ft aluminum Vadco boat with a Mercury 20hp Model 200 motor. I have a few questions and would appreciate any response or comments to these questions.

1. Motor serial number is 4376628.... is the year 1976?

2. Where can I purchase parts for this motor? Many vendor don't sell parts for older motor and the Mercuryparts.com has some info but it does not match my motor serial number.

3. Does anyone have the website where I can purchase Sierra water and fuel pump diaphrams?

4. What is the right prop size to use on this boat..I took the prop off and the numbers can not be read.

5. This motor has a pull start cord....but I noticed that there must have been an electric starter on it because the braket is still there because it covers the piston..... Did this motor come with an electric start when it was new?

thanks

Re: Mercury 20hp Model 200

anything you need for that or ANY, mercury product is found at www.mercruiserparts.com, but more specifically here:
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectDocs.asp?doc_nbr=+65145

electric start was an option, and yes, you can add it to the motor, but dont forget, there is additional elctric stuff, like selenoids, wires, switches, buttons, etc to make it electric start, not to mention a kill switch.

Thank you,

I looked at that site before but could not find it! I appreciate your help!

Another questions for you,,, if the primer bulb does not remain hard when pumped, is this a good sign that the diaphram in the fuel pump needs to be replaced? or should I look at something else?
