mercury 20hp wont start with key

hi i was woondering if anyone could help me ive just put an electric start on my motor and theres no power getting to the starter motor have checked the battery and it is fully charged . i have also just replaced the plate on the bottom of the starter

Is the starter relay clicking when you try to start it?

Welcome aboard.
Is it safe to assume you had a starting problem before replacing the starter? What was it doing?
At this juncture it would be easy to assume you had some starting problem and replaced the starter needlessly.
Too many times an innocuous question is posted without pertinent history, symptoms, etc.

Generally speaking, wiring connections would be the first thing to go over. Are they clean? Are they tight?
Do you have a multimeter?

There is a neutral safety switch sometimes under the hood sometimes in the remote unit.You might try moving the lever slightly while trying to start.
You could carefully jump directly from battery to starter with jumpers to see if starter is ok.
