.04 volt drop between the battery and the starter while holding the key in the crank position is NOT a significant voltage drop, it is a starter problem. Take it back where you got it, hopefully they will warranty it.

Depending on where your old started is and what condition it is in.. Pull your old one apart and clean it out and put in new brushes in it..

Unless it is deep 6'd.. then forget it ;)

I never thought of fixing up the old one with parts from the new one, the brushes were the problem with that one. The reason I didn't get that one repaired is that I am a ferry ride from a parts store and it meant 2 trips. Though maybe the place I bought it from will warranty the new one, at any rate, thanks for all the help, I'm learning as I go and my wife prefers I stay away from the $80.00 hr rate the repair guy charges, not to mention the long wait times, summer is short.

Dont cannibalize your new one, just order new brushes for the old one.

Also as CharlieB said:
