I have a Mercury 25 XD, unknown year. The serial # is A187334. I have not had a problem for about 3 years of ownership. On the last trip the motor started fine, ran for about 100 yards, and died. I now have no spark to either cylinder. I did the check that was listed in another post, every thing checked out OK. I replaced the switchbox, the motor started and ran fine for about 10 min then died, and now I have no spark to either cylinder again. Now after rechecking, the stator seems bad. I would like to know if the switchbox, trigger or coils could cause the stator to go bad. I really do not want to keep throwing money at such an old motor. Any ideas on what else to check before spending $120 on a $300 motor. Also it would be nice to know the year of the motor. Thanks for any assistance
