Mercury 25hp throttle/shift cable replacement?

I've had difficulties with the linkage/shifting/throttle on this thing since I bought it > 10 years ago. I never give it the love it deserves. Yesterday took it out for the first time this year. Ran great, but the idle cam would bind on the cam follower when trying to give it throttle, at the point where the angle of the follower changes. I had to manually crack the throttle plate to get it off idle. Inconvenient. When you remove the throttle cable, it wants to lie perpendicular to the angle of the throttle plate. This torques the whole assembly. I've tried to address this before, but the control box end is IIRC not adjustable, and the motor end is pinned. The cables themselves are sticking now anyway, so going to replace.

1. Anyone know what sizes are available/part numbers? This is a 13ft skiff with the controls a few feet forward of the motor, so maybe 8ft length total. I think these are NLA as OEM. Who makes them aftermarket? I think these were originally teleflex, but I can't find any brands I recognize looking around.
2. Is there any way to adjust the actual cable core, or is there something else I'm missing?
EDIT: Just thinking about this a bit more...If I put a loop in the whole cable, will that change the lay of the end?

This is for an '03 25 hp remote shift, s/n 0T777364. Not sure of the control box style, I need to remove it to examine it. No power trim/tilt, looks like this:

Here's the whole assembly. That white idle cam gets stuck right in the valley of the follower.

Here's the natural lie of the throttle cable/end. Takes a bit of force to twist so it fits on the ball end:
