The starter on engine I just purchased used has a serious problem. It is a ccw starter and when i have it off the motor; pos wire to starter and negative to starter housing, the starter turns ccw and bendix moves out as it should.
When I put it un the engine and wired up, the starter turns cw with no bendix movement. 1985 mercury 25 xd, arco starter 5367. HELP
