mercury 2hp spark plug lead

hey guys

ok so i've been given 2hp mercury outboard by a friend as a backup motor. It's been sitting for a few years but ran fine before, it woulnd't start so was going through things and the spark plug lead cap came off in my hand, the coil seems to have broken from the cord, can i just solder it back on?
