Hello everybody,
May somebody tell me which one is better? Does the mercury will give me significantly more hp? which one is more reliable? I' ve heard that the new outboard engines usually have problems and need aythorised technicians for the service because tuning an mpi engine needs special equipment. Is it better to prefer a little older HONDA with carburator?

Why on earth would you take a leap backwards and buy a 4-stroke engine with a carburetor. Yes -- newer EFI/DFI engines require specialized tools to diagnose and repair some issues. Those engines are far superior to the oldies. As for power, 30 HP is 30 HP. 40 HP is more than 30 HP. No real mystery here.

I would buy the yamaha hands down. The only advantage to the 30 is it can be run with out a battery. As far is the efi question eif is far superior to carbs.
