Have a 2006 Bryant with a V6 4.3 Mercruiser. Have been working on it due to a no fire situation (covered in another topic). Traced the prob to the Ignition sensor which I will be install a new one tomorrow. Anyway noticed on the left side of the distributor (when looking at it toward the stern of the boat) that there is a little 90 degree fitting that is screwed in the distributor and pointed down. There is nothing hooked to it but what made me wonder is that part of the area where like a hose would hook on is not painted black like the rest of the area. I dont see a tube anywhere that would have hooked to in unless it is in the far back of the engine where cant see it or get to it. Does anyone know if theres supposed to be a vent/vacuum line hooked up to this or is just an "atmospheric" vent and suppoed to be open like that. Thanks for any info.

It's just a vent, nothing hooks to it and it doesn't get plugged.

Thanks felt like that's what is was but wasn't sure. What threw me was the first 1/4 inch or so not painted. That might have been where a cap was put on it when it was manufactured to keep the paint from getting inside or plugging it. Thanks again.
