Two questions - First I think is easy...I just bought a new pro v-16 bassrtacker with a 20hp Mercury...is this engine basically the same as the 4 stroke Nissan?

Second - I am having problems with this engine. First it only gets to about 4700 RPM and pushes this boat (pro v-16) about 8.2-8.4 mph top end. Maybe this is all I'll get out of it??? but my father has a 2005-2006 20hp 4 stroke Nissan that looks like the identical engine on an older (1970's) 16 ft ski/fish boat that I assume is a bit lighter than my basstracker but it moves MUCH better. I'm not looking to ski behind a 20hp engine or anything but it just seems like it should be pushing me better than it does.

Also when I give it full throttle at least once everytime I take it out it just dies...the RPM's just drop to an idle and then when I pull the throttle back it stalls...almost like it isn't getting fuel??? I tried hooking my fathers external gas tank up and running it one day with his fuel line and tank and it did the same thing...

so I took the whole boat back to the dealer I bought it at and they are telling me there is nothing wrong. Maybe they're right about the performance but something just doesn't seem right with this engine and I know it shouldn't be dying like it does...Can anyone help with some input or ideas.

Thanks
