Mercury 500 50hp lower unit seals kit

Good evening

I am new to this forum and also new to boating. I am searching for a complete seals kit for the lower unit. I have a 1978 Mercury 500 50hp, serial number 511xxxx, and I noticed some water within the lower unit gear case. I want to replace all of the seals as well as the whole water pump assembly.

Also, the gears appear to be in good shape, including the bearings but I found that there is wear to the reverse lock cam (plastic) toward the top of the shift shaft and the cam (steel) at the front of the prop shaft behind the ring gear. I tried googling these parts but I cannot find any further info.

A Mercury dealer should have all those parts except for the reverse lock cam, maybe. Why did you xxx out the Ser. Nr.?

Thank you for your input. I would prefer to purchase a kit(s) from iboats.com, as they offer this this forum, but the worst case scenario would be my local dealer. Thanks again

I wouldn't consider a dealer "the worst case", mine has helped me on many occasions especially for things like the reverse cam which could be pulled from an old motor.
