Re: mercury 65hp 1969 question

#1. The 650 has reverse, (as yers had at one time as well).

#2. The internal harness can be purchased right here on iboats.

#3 The external harness and cables also can be purchased right here on iboats.

#4 I have a factory fresh (still in the plastic) "Merc corntrol" that needs the external harness and cables, (see #3 above) PM me if you are interested.

Me over priced $.02. JR

Re: mercury 65hp 1969 question

It's not uncommon to have extra holes in the plug in there are 2 harnesses one is for battery powered CD and the other is for magneto and ADI ignition systems, I think that your engine is battery CD remove the cowl and see if there are 3 wires come out of the dist. that makes it CD, if there is only 1 then it's magneto. If it is battery powered ign. then any box and harness from 1967 to 1976 thats for battery ign. will work, check eBay and dealers bone piles there are a lot of used ones out there.
