Mercury 6HP "dead spot"

So, my 2004 mercury 6hp 4 stroke runs fine at idle on R, N, and Forward, but when I throttle past the start arrow it dies. Could you tell me anything to help it not die? I don't want to get stuck out on the water... Thanks for any help! P.S. I cleaned out the fuel filter, which had lots of gunk in it, thinking it would help, but it didn't. And again, Thank you for any input!!

The pilot jet seems to be ok, as it idles. When you open the throttle, more air enters into the cylinders via the carb. This process should draw more fuel through the carb’s main jet. The main jet could be plugged. If fuel cannot enter via the main jet the engine will stall. I’ll suggest it may be time for a carb cleaning.
