Hello all

I'm getting ready to do some electrical work on my motor. It was sunk last fall, so the connections that were live to the battery are corroded. I've rebuilt the starter motor. I'm planning on replacing the solenoid and the rectifier. The solenoid is no problem, but the rectifier is a little confusing. I went to the Mercury site to look-up the part number and things get a little gray. I can't just look at the part as the motor is up north. If my memory is correct the rectifier (as shown in the diagram) is not available, and of course the alternate configuration is several hundred dollars. The motor serial number is 0a739861. Could someone look at that diagram on Mercury site and see if it makes sense to them. Any insight would help.

Also I had to cut one and mangle the other starter mounting bolts, but can't find a listing for replacements. Oh and what size head is it, Doesn't appear to be standard imperial or metric.

Best

David

You say......"It was sunk last fall" "Any insight would help."

I say, Just that part about being sunk leads one to believe you might be chasing more than just bad connections, solenoid, rectifier, and the like.

Chances are, by the time you track down all the stuff (at retail pricing) and get it replaced most of the other external electrical connections or items are going to start failing.

Then there is all the internal parts that could be of deminnished quality after being submerged for ANY lenth of time. Figure all that internal stuff could be the next round of issues.

I don't know your motor, or the situation in which it sunk or was preserved, but unless it was rescued by a factory shop, and done by the book within the magic hour it might be best to look towards motor replacement.

Sorry just my thought and perhaps some insight.
