Fed up, need help motor shuts down running full throtle temp gaug goes up motor hot.I changed themostat,and water pump no blocked anywhere and has good compression.lot of steam coming out upper exhust holes will start back up when it shuts down pee hole water is hot seems to have good stream need help bad any sug.

A year model and type of boat wouldnt hurt..........

Could be a poppet valve problem... Did you check all that out when you changed the thermostat?

everything appears to be good it moves fine when i examined it as i put the thermostat back in

having a similar problem with my 88 90hp merc. Runs great until full throttle and dies after 2 min or so and fires right back up like it never happened. can't figure it out. anything else you try? from reading i thought maybe a carb issue?
