I am considering changing out my 1987? Mercury Mariner 25hp to a 2007 Mercury 25hp 4 stroke. Can I use my same controller by just getting an 8 pin to 14 pin adaptor? The 4 stroke does have power trim which my current contoller doesn't have but I am not too concerned as the 4 stroke also has the power trim buttons on the engine. I would probably only use the power trim twice a year when putting and taking out the pontoon boat. Can I also use the same gear shift cables? Anything else to consider??
